This pack holds 40 drum loops built around the sound of pop, rock and dance records from the mid 1980s to the early 1990s. About a third are full electronic kits: a firm kick, a snare with a gated reverb tail and bright eighth-note hats, the kind of pattern that sits under synth-pop and new wave. Another third are drum-machine percussion beds at 120 BPM: tambourines, shakers, claves, congas, cowbell and woodblock figures programmed to a strict grid, meant to layer over a plainer kit. The rest are hybrid kits that pair an electronic kick with tom pulses, clipped or roomy snares and dry cymbals, plus a few tom-led fills and one slower, sparse pattern for a breakdown.
The drum sound of the era is easy to describe and hard to program by hand. Snares are big and short at the same time: a burst of reverb cut off by a gate before it can decay. Toms are tuned high, hit hard and often descend across a bar. Hi-hats are bright and slightly metallic, kicks are rounded rather than sub-heavy, and claps sit on top of the snare or replace it. These loops carry that character in the rendered audio itself. They are not recordings of any particular drum machine or studio; they are patterns rendered to sound like that period.
Tempos run from 116 to 148 BPM for the full kits, with the percussion beds at 120 and one pattern at 92. The tempo and bar count describe the intended phrase. Audition the WAV, trim the start and end to a clean musical boundary, and check it against your project grid before looping. Generated timing may need warping; the files are supplied as rendered rather than manually edited loops.
To use them, set your project tempo to the BPM shown next to the loop, then drag the WAV onto an audio track. In FL Studio, drop it into the Playlist and check the phrase against the grid; switch the clip to stretch mode if you want to nudge the tempo. In Ableton Live, warp mode reads the loop length and locks it to the grid. In Logic Pro, import it to a track and turn on Flex Time if you change the project tempo. Because the percussion beds are all at 120, start with a 120 BPM kit and adjust the timing by ear; audition any stretch for transient smearing.
Everything is 44.1 kHz stereo WAV, royalty-free for commercial releases, no attribution required. Play any loop on this page first; the download asks for an email once.
If you want a different pattern in the same style, the Tapechild sample generator rendered every loop here from a short text prompt at a set tempo. Describe the sound, set the BPM and bar count, and it renders to order.
The complete download contains 40 WAV files plus a licence and MANIFEST.json. The manifest lists each filename, byte size and SHA-256 checksum. These are AI-generated samples, not recordings of vintage hardware or audio rendered by the UDS-16 plugin.
Every sample in this pack was rendered to order with the Tapechild AI sample generator. Describe the sound, set the tempo and key, and generate a starting point for your track. The first 5 renders are free and need no card.
